It is so hard for some people to learn how to see as they go around with their eyes closed as well as their mind and sadly their heart, got have a good heart opened and ready to embrace people and new things, instead of treading water and just not drowning, because drowning will make one dead and the dead learn nothing.
This is what plagues me. It seems like everyone wants to cater to their bias rather than seek truth, justify their actions rather than grow in Christ, follow their own way rather than his Way. I know it is not everyone, but there is so much that it is overwhelming sometimes. I look at this broken world roaring full steam ahead into disaster and self-destruction and can only think "Jesus please come."
“The eye through which I see God is the eye through which God sees me; my eye and God’s eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing, one love.”
Eckhart can be very mystical, but I came upon a very simple understanding of how God sees us in the idea that He treats us as He wants to be treated and, in tying Himself to the least of these, He gives us a tangible way for us to love them as if they were God and thereby love God exactly as He wants to be loved. In seeing others exactly as they are rather than what they are not, we see God more perfectly how He is rather than how He is not.
Thank you Bishop Jake for encouraging and teaching us to see as Jesus sees.
I suspect we're all on the same learning path, my friend!
And another person who teaches us to see is Jake Owensby. We re so thankful for you.
Thank you Carolyn! That's super encouraging.
I love this, and shared it on online morning prayer... read an excerpt and shared this link. I hope that doesn't put me in Substack jail! Haha!
Haha! No jail time for you!

Waking up can be surprisingly difficult to do. To paraphrase Richard Rohr, God is always present. It's awareness that's lacking.
"Tenacious ignorance discourages me."

Hosanna, oh Lord.
