Amazing. God gives us a second chance. My story. I weiged 406. It was an enlarged parathyroid. Which was removed last August. I started to get healthier in Dec of 2015. And am now about 220. Healthy eating and asking for God s help. Not bragging. Just letting yall know what God did for me. If you mind God. He will bless you. Just ask for His help..And do what you should do. Diabetic. God helped me to stop eating sugar. Thank you for reading this. My testimony.
Amen to life vs. death - and the fact that it’s happening in the here and now! I must say that for me, learning to get out of my SELF has been a long process rather than a moment - and I’m still learning. I think that love means to trust that God has ME taken care of, to rest in that and focus more on caring for others. Of course, love means much more than that - but fundamentally it is a lack of selfishness. And that is so hard to live out!! Thanks, Jake, for another thoughtful essay. ♥️
Thanks for this thoughtful reflection, Korie! Working at getting out of my self sounds pretty familiar. I touch on this from a different angle on a reflection scheduled for the last Friday of the month (and intended to kick off Advent). Would love to hear your thoughts. Be well....
I have for most of my life followed my gut, when I was first married my husband didn't get it, when I would say that something just didn't feel right and we shouldn't do such and such. Now he does understand and now he also accepts that at times something will just feel wrong and of course there are many times when something just feels like the right thing to do. Sometimes I feel what our instinct is telling us is God's way of communicating with us
What a beautiful post, Jake! This resounds in my heart as the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth! How many times has our Lord reached down through the dirt to revive each of us? Though we stumble and fall God is so faithful and loving that He never gives up on us. ❤️
What a post, Jake! I love the story of Essie! And what a sister she had. So interesting that my friend and I had a conversation just 20 minutes ago about listening to our intuition, to our gut, to the signs around us…and how we both have been spared from death because of it on several occasions.
Angie, that is very interesting. As it turns out I just scheduled a post for the last Friday of November (timed for the beginning of Advent on that Sunday). Seems to me that it's relevant to this conversation, so let me know what you think when it drops. In the meantime, blessed All Saints' Day!

I think of those as the Spirit's nudging, too, Aussie Jo!

Thanks, Eva! So glad it resonated with you. And I've certainly been in the dirt plenty of time. God is good.

I sure will, Jake. I enjoy your posts so much.
