Out of Many, One
A Brief 4th of July Message
Lots of people say that they love America. I’ve often wondered what they mean when they say that.
I would like to think that they mean that they love the people. All the people. In all their shapes and sizes. Political persuasions and ethnicities. Gender and skin color. Religion and sexual orientation.
America is not just a form of government or an expanse of land. America is the people. America is all of us.
To love America is to love Americans in all our diversity. Okay, that’s easier said than done sometimes. Especially during a heated election season. But, hey, on the Fourth of July, let’s remember our motto: e pluribus unum. Out of many, one.
And if you don’t believe me, have a listen to John Cena (whom I never expected to reference in one of my posts):
Have a happy, safe Independence Day, friends!
Jake

Excellent piece, Jake! Thanks for sharing it with us as we seek to rediscover that love that John Cena was talking about.
Wow. That’s a great video clip. Thanks for finding it. Sharing all over.
