This week I’m departing from my usual practice of following the Revised Common Lectionary. Instead, I’m reflecting on Jesus’ teachings about navigating challenging times and enduring suffering.

These are difficult times: times of conflict and uncertainty in many places. I’m writing this before the Presidential Election in the United States. My sense is that the tensions that divide us will not be resolved by the outcome, no matter who wins. It is my hope that these reflections will in some small way help those who follow Jesus to persevere on the way of love.
