Welcome to The Woodlands Podcast. During July I’ll be offering a series of readings from some of my books. This week you’ll hear a passage from Your Untold Story. All subscribers receive a brief free version of the episode. Paid subscribers have access to the full audio. All proceeds from paid subscriptions are used for alms.
Here are some questions for reflection:
What word, phrase, image, or idea in this chapter stood out to you? What ideas, stories, images, or questions did it suggest to you?
Does this chapter make you think of someone you dislike or fear? Someone you judge or resent or harbor a grievance against? Someone you envy or blame or simply can’t connect with? Talk about the events that led you to this perspective. Now imagine how Jesus would tell this person’s story as his beloved friend.
Think about someone you are struggling to forgive as flawed and wounded themselves. Does this help you tell a different story about the person? Can you imagine that telling this different story might help you take steps toward forgiveness and reconciliation?
Our own wounds and fears can act like lenses through which we see other people. Can you think of a time when your lenses led you to tell a distorted or narrow story about another person? Did learning more about the person change the story you tell?
