Dear Friends,
Throughout the day many wise and faithful people have responded to last night’s election results with prayers and guidance. Among those responses I especially commend Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe’s letter.
Episcopalians like me regularly pray for our elected officials during our worship on Sunday. And our Church urges us to add them to our daily petitions. So, I encourage you to join me in praying that Donald Trump and all those elected to public office take their vocation to service as a sacred trust. That they seek justice for all with genuine compassion. And that they place the common good above the pursuit of political allegiance or personal gain.
In the Baptismal Covenant we promise to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being. And we admit that this is a tall order. We can do it only with God’s help.
Regardless of which party finds itself in power, the Church has one head: Jesus. We follow him in the way…
