Here are some questions for reflection:

What thoughts and feelings does my the story of my mother in Mauthausen stir in you? What details from the story most impress themselves upon you, and why? What does her stjory tell you about the source and nature of hope?

If someone were to ask you how God has been with you throughout your life, shaping you into your “true self,” when and where would you tell them to look?

When, if ever, have you felt God was absent from the world? from your own life? How have you dealt or do you deal with such moments? How would you respond to someone who tells you they struggle with feelings of God’s absence?
